Small size: 7.5 x10 giclée reproduction of the original monotype "Lost Constellations" with 1" white border. Original was collage, chine collé, tetrapak drypoint. Part of my Constellation series.
There are a bunch of constellations that are no longer recognized... Among them, in my print: Argo Navis (the ship), Noctua - little owl, the giant swallow, Hippocampus (seahorse) globus aerostaticus (hot air balloon), quadrus muralis, lilium, triangulum, pyxis - mariner's compass, and a rose. The current 88 northern constellations were established in 1922 by the International Astronomical Union to make a universal pattern for astronomers.
